Installation
Anchoring
The palletizer base can be moved using a forklift (if on a pallet) or a pallet jack (directly underneath the base).
Vention always recommend anchoring the system for stability and repeatable positioning. In the case of CRX-30iA models, it is mandatory. However, UR20 models have optional anchoring when using both pallet locators.
A proper concrete analysis must be done at each site of installation in order to determine the quality and depth of concrete. Failure to do so can result in failure of the concrete mounting screws. Space for eight 3/8 inch anchors is provided in the base. It should be possible to drill through the mounting holes.
Connections
Once the palletizer is installed, xonnect the “Power Robot” and the “Power MachineMotion” connectors on the base to a power source. Retrieve Vention’s Pendant from its shipping box and complete the safety chain by connecting both M12 12-pin cables as shown. Finally, connect the air tubing to the machine.
Safety: Area Scanners
Vention’s Rapid Series Palletizer is available with the Area Scanner Safety Add-on. This includes all necessary safety equipment, a parent area scanner, and two child area scanners that can be fastened to the pallet locators.
There are three Area Scanners on the Rapid Series Palletizer:
One 3-OSSD Parent Scanner (PR-DA-201-0489) in the Rapid Series Palletizer base
Two covered Child Scanners (PR-DA-001-0582) fastened to the Pallet Locators
There are four E-stops located on the Rapid Series Palletizer:
One on the Vention Pendant (MachineMotion Pendant V3)
One on the Cobot Pendant
Two Vention E-stop Modules with Reset, located on either side of the Rapid Series Palletizer base.
Minimum Safety Distance Calculations
The safety distance is calculated according to ISO 13855:2010, Safety Of Machinery - Positioning Of Safeguards With Respect To The Approach Speeds Of Parts Of The Human Body.
The following equation applies for fenceless cobot palletizers with area scanners:
S = K*T + C
Soverall = Minimum overall safety distance = 2050mm
Sauto-reset = Minimum overall safety distance / 3 = 683mm
K = Approach speed = 1600mm/s
T = Stopping time = 0.582s (cobot: 0.5s + child scanner: 0.082s)
C = Penetration distance = 1120mm (if scanner is raised 300mm from the ground)
Safety Behaviour - Auto-Reset
For Rapid Series Palletizers with the Area Scanner Safety Add-on, the auto-reset functionality of the area scanners can be used. This separates the protected Zone A, defined in the calculations above, into three separate zones.
B - A1 - A2 - A3 - A2 - A1 - B
B - A1 - A2 - A1 - B
B - A1 - B
After an E-Stop is triggered or the operator enters the workzone, auto-reset will be deactivated until the palletizer is physically reset.
The operator is able to reset the system’s safety by pressing and holding for 250ms the physical RESET button located on either side of the Rapid Series Palletizer base while standing in zone A3. Pressing the reset button from any other area will not reset the system.
Once this is done, the operator will have to exit the the zones using the following predefined reset sequence for the palletizer to return to the default speed:
A3 - A2 - A1 - B
